BACKYARD GARDEN WEDDING, PORTLAND
Wedding / 3 Comments / March 4, 2020

Amber and Patrick’s backyard garden wedding in the West Hills was what dreams are made of! They had an intimate ceremony and reception in Patrick’s parents backyard with close friends and family, and the next day had a big party reception at Irving Street Studio – those photos to come soon. It was a perfect summer day with the most gorgeous wedding details. Long farm tables lined with colorful floral arrangements, personalized geode slices labeled with everyone’s name, napkins tied with a loose knot & a sprig of greenery was tucked under the geode for a sweet touch. Guests were greeted on Friday with an aperol spritz, Amber’s favorite cocktail, and dinner included Paella and a delicious flourless chocolate cake. Amber always dreamed of a small, intimate wedding outdoors and insisted that she would not wear shoes when she said “I do.” On the other hand, for Patrick, growing up in a large Irish, Catholic family meant Patrick would get to have all his siblings, cousins and extended family there to partake in the merriment. Patrick’s parents backyard boasted a beautiful, three-tiered garden that was perfect for the laid-back, garden party that they were hoping for. The two were officially married three weeks prior to their scheduled wedding date in a private ceremony at the Hospice House in Bend, OR where Amber’s mother passed away. The nurses at the facility planned everything for Amber, Patrick and their families, bringing in flowers and even setting up food for everyone afterwards. The memory of this special day and Amber’s Mom reverberated throughout the entire wedding weekend. A photo of Amber with both of her parents was displayed at both the ceremony and reception, and one of her mom’s favorite rings was Amber’s “something blue.” The Oregon Coast being Amber’s favorite place, Patrick surprised her when they took a weekend trip to Newport and he proposed at Yaquina State Park. They then returned to one of their first date spots, a “secret” beach just north of Cannon Beach, to take their engagement photos.

What a beautiful and intimate Portland wedding! The geodes are my favorite touch! If I had a backyard like that, I would definitely get married in it!
